Swan was developed in Australia and released in California in 1981.

PEST & DISEASE RESISTANCE

Swan is moderately susceptible to Barley Yellow Dwarf Virus and susceptible to stem rust, crown rust, and powdery mildew.

YIELD DATA

Swan is early maturing, being two to three days later than Montezuma. Plants are leafy with medium diameter stems which confer good resistance to lodging. Plant height averages about 52 inches and is similar to that of Cal Red. Vigorous early growth is accompanied by moderate tillering. Bushel weight is excellent averaging about 38.8 lb/bu.
