California #5 Blackeye

BREEDING HISTORY & DESCRIPTION

California #5 Blackeye was developed from a cross of California Blackeye x Iron. It is resistant to root-knot nematode and cowpea wilt, but is susceptible to charcoal rot. The plant is early maturing, with an upright posture and a small vine. The seed is somewhat larger that California Blackeye but the shape, color, wrinkles, and ‘eye’ are identical.
